It was not ok she didn’t do the right thing! Tyrion didn’t betray her but Dany fucked up. Bigly. Seven hells makes you wonder if Bobby wasn’t right all along to want to assassinate her to begin with That being said self fulfilling prophecy is self fulfilling. Now we’ll see Arya murdering Dany. Probably with Jon’s face. I’m calling it!

Only if I see it like Cosca does, I can say it was fun. I mean,  David and Dan hired an anarchist who hates the entire ASOIAF thing (and shits all over writing), to write the last episodes of this show.  Then I´m glad and I can find the fun in it. Let´s fucking burn it all.

I really, truly understand why the actors said the end would be divisive now lol. They weren't joking.

I just saw a woman walking down the street wearing a Mother of Dragons shirt. Man, all that sort of Slay Queen Khaleesi stuff is so awkward now

How they'll wrap it up:

Dany, Drogon and Grey Worm will get taken out by the Northern armies/Jon/Arya.

Dany will kill Tyrion who will attempt to take her down somehow

Jon and Arya will sail off into the sunset.

Sansa and Gendry will be King and Queen of the 7 Kingdoms with Bran as their spymaster, Brienne as Queensguard

Ellaria's chains break and she uses them to strangle Dany when she takes the throne. Jon gets mad and kills her which causes the new Prince of Dorne to start a war. But then the children of the forest return and broker a peace deal. The Hound arrives at the end more scarred than before and tells them to go fuck yourself

By the way, didn't the Dornish pledged allegiance to Dany? The didn't even get to show for the last battle?

It's funny how almost every major house in the seven kingdoms don't even get to participate the major events of the story. Where are the armies of the Reach, the Stormlands and the Riverlands? I saw a few Vale sigils on some shields here and there but that was it.

The whole thing felt... watered down?

I really, really, really like Lyanna's idea of Jon getting Drogon to off Dany.  I doubt it will happen that way, but if it does, Lyanna gets "one of the best calls ... EVAR" award, and I'll be happy (which, of course, is what's most important ;) ).

I didn't care whether she died, or not, until last night (didn't want Drogon to die, and I still don't).  Now I definitely want her to die.  I mean, she just did what Jaime killed her father to prevent ... Burn(ing) them all.

After reading this: www.buzzfeed.com/jennaguillaume/game-of-thrones-easter-eggs-s8e5
I think Dany going maaaad was actually Gurm's idea, one of the major plot points he told D&D, since her visions in the house of the undying are from book 2 or 3.
That doesn't get D&D off the hook though, it could've been done well, they just suck at writing.

I highly doubt Gurm would manage to do it well though.

It never occurred to me Dany going maaaad wasn't GRRM's plan.
Didn't GRRM say the show would end basically the same as the books, just how some characters got to the end would be different?

I mean, I suppose how Daenerys gets to whatever happens next week could be different, I just doubt it (and who knows if we'll ever find out).

The man who killed Jaime Lannister was having a good time. That’s the perfect epitaph. Wonder if I can incorporate the “finger in the bum” somewhere in there. 🙊

My reaction to the episode: "MURDER PONY!!!! You're all grown up!" Now we need grown up Nymeria, never growing up Arya and more charred Hound to ride off into the sunset.

Oh, and that Jamie/Tyrion scene ripped my heart out. It was perfect. It started off feeling so much like Season 2 with Jamie chained to a post, it was a bit surreal. And such amazing acting. I loved it.

As for the rest, it's a waste of everything that's come before to finish in this poorly thought out rush to the finish. They should have done the Walking Dead thing and had two four or five episode half seasons: one with the battle against the WWs and one with the battle for the throne. There's no time for subtlety or development of the immense internal struggles that must have waged inside so many characters for things to turn out the way they did. Jamie going from seducing Brienne to leaving her in one ep is the epitome of how hurried it is. And Dany...just awful. Bad writing, bad directing and bad acting combining into a travesty.

Other than that, great ep.

Yeah, the directing wasnt bad as much as repetative and boring. This guy uses slo mo and condensed sound waay too much for effect. It was great at The Bastards battle, but now he uses that technique for every fight scene. The writing was bad as usual. The cinematography was good.  And some scenes were acted really well. And Grey worm just sucks without the love story.

If I take off the Cosca hat, I feel the same. We´ll see how it ends but till that happens I keep the hat on, it might be good to avoid boredom or disappointment.

tinfoilhat Don't take off the hat, Andi!! Keep the delusion alive as long as you can!

I missed you too, Donnie. happybounce

I didn't hate the ep. There were lots of wonderful moments. I just don't like how quickly characters are transforming in significant ways that undo their entire story arcs. It seems a bit like everyone has regressed to who they were raised to be had the traumas of the past seven seasons not happened. Theon, Jon and Sansa are all suddenly Super-Starkian, reflexively doing what is principled and honorable no matter the cost. Arya isn't holding any grudges; she just wants to ride her murder pony. The Lannisters are all about their family and its survival, even Tyrion. Dany is the second, third and fourth coming of Varys, all at once. Gendry is lost, rowing around endlessly off screen somewhere. And Davos still can't fight, but apparently uses his sneaky smuggler moves to emerge unscathed from epic battles and dragon fire.

Thank goodness all of that will change in the last ep. Right? RIGHT?!?

Yes, Cosca, the directing. Part of the director's job is the coax the performance he envisions for each scene out of the actors. Thankfully some actors don't need much of that. And while it may be tough to get a good performance out of Emilia, I wonder how much of the over the top wild-eyed craziness is the directors either encouraging it or failing to coax a more nuanced performance out of her. So I blame them almost as much as the writers and Emilia.

There is no way they will wrap up everything in 80 mins, they need at least 3 hours....

True enough. It seems like all of their attention and budget went to special effects and big battles that ended up being kind of lame. I wish they had been a little less ambitious with the fancy stuff and devoted some time to doing the characters justice.

The second ep this season written by Cogman was great...he should have written the remaining episodes.

He should have! Episode 2 was perfect. I loved everything about it and thought it was one of the best of the series. And then the series went straight down the tubes and landed flat on its face.
