Why is Tyrion back at Dragonstone at the end there...aftermath of the battle? Plotting against Dany?

Cosca, you still playing that tune I see! ☺️ I think that may be before they start the battle, no? They are in Dragonstone since that’s Dany’s Southern base. Probably a scene before the battle. I don’t think they’ll just start the ep with Dany and the Unsullied taking on KL.

I suppose I just find it mildly odd for Dany not to just setup camp over near King's Landing, but since the Dragonstone set is awesome I'll give it a pass for now.

Tyrion and Varys are definitely gonna overthrow Dany though. Varys will probably try and poison her. After all, like Pycelle said, poison is for women and eunuchs

Tyrion will do the right thing. You will see, Cosca. This is not book Tyrion who’s done some dark deeds. You’re talking of the show Tyrion who hasn’t had sex in years! That’s not book Tyrion, m-Kay? He’ll eventually realize that Dany is not wrong. She may not be liked here in Westeros but people HAVE been looking at her just as Westeros Northern people have looked at Jon. A different continent should change the essence of a person. That’s just not normal.

They seem to be going a lit too hard on the Mad Targaryen theme for me, perhaps she'll just burn King's Landing? Or Jaime shows up at the last momento to kill her like he did to her father?

But TW....Dany is wrong . All true men and women owe Gendry Baratheon 1st of His Name their allegiance.

Anyway, I don't think Dany is going Targaryen mad so much as mad with grief. She's lost most of her army and almost all her friends in like a month. Its bringing out the worst in her

Jon can actually keep the Kingdoms united. Being in a different continent absolutely does make a difference to how you are perceived.

Dany’s essence hasn’t changed though. She is still doing her thing, still trying to save people. It’s not like you can’t see it. Her methods may look like she’s abrasive and she IS. But Tyrion has been with her in Meereen and believed in her there and it makes absolutely zero sense to somehow cross the continent and his opinion of her somehow undergo dramatic changes. It’s just not normal. I mean he still believed in her after the Tarlys for crying out loud and begged her not to go North of the Wall! You do you Cosca, you always do but it’s not making sense. You’re generally not making sense anyway ☺️

She doesn't have a particularly good track record with saving people either, something Varys and Tyrion didn't actually witness at the time. She also used to be a lot better at listening to her advisers, but she's sort of giving up on that now. She doesn't listen to anyone.

Tyrion's opinion is undergoing changes because he's starting to see the bad side of Dany after being somewhat awestruck, and now there is an actual alternative!

After watching Vary explain how Dicks Are Very Important i think D&D are going with Jon as the King, Dany going crazy and/or dying, or maybe ruling as his Queen-but-not-really, cause D&D are dumb and they probably favor Jon over Dany 'cause "silly women can't handle emotions" and shit.
Remember that plenty of male characters have lost loved ones and they aren't being portrayed as "going crazy with emotions" like she is.
Part of their commentary on episode 3 was something like she just saw the Dothraki dying now she is not handling her emotions very well. Seriously?

And that scene on ep 4 where the other dragon dies was just bad writing, you can maybe hide a few ships amidst the rocks but not the entire frigging Iron Fleet.

Yes. What Dolan says. Almost forgot about Dicks Being Very Important. I mean sure, until Jon parentage, the Westeros was going along with with the Bad Pussies (Cersei somehow is a Queen and Dany was always the Dragon Queen). Suddenly it’s the Dick that really counts actually, we just didn’t know it. Basically if I put it in the Dornish lingo: We wanted the Bad Pussy but we really need the Good Dick.

Yeah, I’m not convinced about Tyrion going through changes for an ep. He will end up doing the right thing. Or may be Cersei kills them all like he said! ☺️

We talking about the same story here? Characters have lost their minds over grief many times (Catelyn, Jon at the BOTB, Stannis I'd argue), but nobody has suffered the losses Dany has lately. She's lost 2 of her children, 2 of her closest friends, most of her armies, her relationship with Jon, and potentially her entire claim to the throne is on quicksand. If anything Dany has been more sympathetic across the seasons then she was in the books, especially in Dance where she was giggling and having kids tortured for fun. And what Varys said about cocks wasn't some sort of moral judgement but a practical point, it IS easier to sell a man as King in Westeros. Cersei rules solely by fear.

I also feel like in people's rush to interpret with maximum bad faith the actual context of the line "cocks do matter" is being ignored, which is that the basis of Dany's claim is totally undercut because all the laws of Westeros but Jon first in line

The entire Iron Fleet WASN'T hiding behind those rocks, just like 15 elite ships with ballista. That was the whole point! C'mon people.

We do talk about the same story here. Everyone had losses like Dany. Every single one of the Starks. Cersei in fact had three children taken away from her, one who committed suicide for which she's not even willing to deal with because she WOULD go mad if her words to Jaime is to be believed and when it comes to her children she IS to be believed. I'm not sure anyone went literally ARYS MAD with it, which theory Varys is pushing for. I mean sure, you can make the point that Cersei is insane for blowing up the sept but if you look close, she was just following Ollena's suggestion/question. She put all her enemies inside and got rid of them with one stroke. Basically a Red Wedding event. Or Arya's wiping of the Frey event. Are they the definition of Areys Targaryan mad?!

I didn't take anything out of context. Varys is perpetrating patriarchy, when given the chance to honor Alysanne's wish. A Targ woman on the throne over a male one. He could have put the primogeniture theory first and made THAT his basis of choosing Jon over Dany. First in line of the first in line (Rhaegar was before Dany as first child - not even looking at his dick here, and his children, preferably the firsts come before the second child of Aerys) but he didn't. He went directly to dick over pussy. Shame! Shame Shame! :shamebell:

Where the hell is that bell when one needs it?

Cersei definitely is insane. She's totally given up on any sort of real self-preservation. She has basically all of Westeros at war with her and has had for seasons now. She spent years undermining the Tyrells, her closest allies. She wasn't even willing to help stop the goddamn apocalypse, and is incredibly lucky that that paid off

Sure Varys is perpetuating patriarchy. When did he ever say he was some sort of proto-feminist? None of that Alysanne stuff is in the show/is canon.  And he is saying that Jon is first in line, that was part of his reasoning. A rewatch may be in order dear TW!

Mentioned in fucking passing it was! It’s the dick over pussy that was pushed though. And you shut yo patriarchal mouth Cosca!!!! We don’t want Varys to be right and we want everyone to go the Dornish way, m-Kay?! Why is Cosca not banned yet? That’s what I want to know. ☺️

What the...they were both mentioned in passing. You're not making sense!!

Varys is the most progressive and thus correct character in the show. Dany was up there tbf at times

15 ships behind some rocks? Suure... Very believable, the point is you can't behind some rocks at all, ships are big, and Dany's own fleet isn't manned by blind people, the whole thing was cheap.

About Dany, the point isn't that her going mad isn't believable, it actually makes sense that she has some trauma, is that why everyone else around her the went through just as horrible or even worse stuff (like, you know, literally dying and coming back?) and aren't being portrayed as going mad or even showing any sign of trauma at all, Jon being the most glaring example of it. Sansa got raped, Arya went trough the crazy faceless men initiation, Bran turned into a tree, Jon got murdered and came back like he had just taken a nap or something, etc, etc.

They all went through horrible shit but only Dany is going through the Mad Aerys shit.

I just feel like this whole season is falling short of what it could be, and that's due to D&D's limitations as writers, but considering what we've had so far i shouldn't be surprised.

What's different about Dany? Well coming from a long line of people who enjoy burning people alive and who went totally crazy, and having many times enjoyed burning people burning alive seems like a pretty obvious point. For seasons and seasons they've emphasised that her impulse is ALWAYS to destroy shit with her dragons. At a certain point it just becomes delusion to deny this.

How many times has someone reminded her about her father? How many times has an advisor begged her to be more lenient, move her away from her instinct to brutally kill?

Oh yeah, it was almost as bad as Sansa watching those hounds eat Ramsay. At least Dany didn’t crack a smile at the end... It’s a good thing there’s no Targ blood in Jon Snow’s dick though. Otherwise he could be going Targaryen mad at some point and poor Varys would be running out of better options. Also can someone stop Cosca from posting?! Anyone?! Varys???

Sansa is kind of fucked up too! Not all that great that she's scheming behind her own brother/cousins back

If Jon was having a great time burning people maybe that would be a good point...

Jon has BOTH the Targ blood and literally murdered by his own "brothers" that he loved so much and so far not a even a hint of any change in his personality at all. He still the good natured do-gooder, great character development by D&D.

I guess dicks really are Very Important.

Anyway we're talking in circles at this point. I just don't think D&D have what it takes to give this show the ending it deserves and that's a shame. Thanks to Gurm the not-a-writer we have these two bozos to finish the story for us.

I don’t know why we always have to go back to Martin’s not finishing the books. It’s not like they wouldn’t have made their own damn decisions about what to cut, consolidate or simply modify anyway. The show writing should stand on its own.

Anyway, I feel like people spent like 7 seasons saying Dany was a terrible character. Where did all the fans come from??

The two aren't mutually exclusive, she's a so-so character interpreted by a bad actress, written by poor writers. For example, her current downward spiral-of-insanity arch.

Yeah, but had he finished the pooks i wouldn't have to give a damn about the shitty story being told by D&D. As things are, it's the only story we'll get. cry

 Hahaha.

It's been a while since I read the sample chapters, but I remember thinking, "gawd, if most of the these sample chapters are any indication, TWOW may well make AFFC and ADWD seem like veritable masterpieces."

Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but only a bit, imo.
